Check-up and Clean

What is included

At a routine check-up your dentist carries out a comprehensive examination, which may include diagnostic X-rays, an oral cancer screening, an assessment of gum health, a check for tooth decay and a review of your existing fillings and crowns.

The clean removes the hardened plaque that brushing cannot shift, particularly below the gum line where gum disease starts. Your teeth are then polished and, where appropriate, fluoride is applied.

How often

Every six months suits most adults. If you have active gum disease, a dry mouth, or a history of rapid decay, more frequent visits are worth it. If your teeth and gums are stable, we will tell you that rather than book you in unnecessarily.
